About

Karim Baggili, born in 1976, is a Belgian composer, guitarist, and oud player.

Inspired by Mark Knopfler's playing, he began playing the electric guitar at the age of 16 and soon started composing his own music.

Four years later, he became fascinated by the virtuosity of Paco de Lucia, which drew him into the world of flamenco. A self-taught musician, he dedicated himself to mastering various flamenco guitar techniques.

During a trip to Jordan, he acquired an oud, which introduced new sounds to his compositions and broadened his musical horizons.

His albums include Douar, Cuatro con Cuatro, Lea & Kash, Kali City, Apollo You Sixteen, Apollo You Sixteen Part II and Ocho Manos Tome 1

Karim's passion for music has led him to diverse projects as a composer and arranger, including work on CDs, short films, documentaries, and, more recently, feature films.

He has performed on numerous stages, both large and small, intimate and grand, across Belgium and internationally.

Some highlights include performances at Samaritaine, Ferme du Biéreau, Centre Culturel de Huy, Festival d'Art de Huy, Festival Paroles d'Hommes, Festival Esperanzah, Francofolies, Ancienne Belgique, Green Note in London, as well as appearances in Dubai, Kuwait, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, to name just a few.
